Fugitive Clinton/Dem donor laughing his way back to China?

You should already know that the Clintons have a troubled past when it comes to the Communist Chinese (or the cutely termed Chicoms if you prefer) but it is starting to resurface as we get closer to the 2008 elections. Too bad no one cares.

Democratic Donor a No Show at Hearing:

Disgraced Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu was a wanted man again after he failed to show up for a court date Wednesday and a judge issued a new warrant for his arrest. Hsu, whose criminal past has roiled the campaigns of top presidential candidates, was scheduled to ask a judge to cut in half the $2 million bail he posted last week when he turned himself in after spending 15 years on the lam from a felony theft conviction.

Instead, San Mateo Superior Court Judge Robert Foiles ordered Hsu’s bail forfeited to the county and issued a new arrest warrant. If Hsu is arrested again, he will be jailed without bail this time.

Hsu, a Hong Kong native, was also supposed to turn over his passport Wednesday. Hsu’s prominent Silicon Valley criminal defense attorney Jim Brosnahan said Hsu failed to give the passport to the legal team on Monday.

“Mr. Hsu is not here and we do not know where Mr. Hsu is,” Brosnahan said outside court. Brosnahan said that “there was some contact” with Hsu a few hours before the scheduled 9 a.m. court appearance, but he declined to say how and who talked to Hsu.

Hsu pleaded no contest in 1991 to a felony count of grand theft, admitting he’d defrauded investors of $1 million after falsely claiming to have contracts to purchase and sell Latex gloves. He was facing up to three years in prison when he skipped town before his 1992 sentencing date.

Prosecutors said they suspected Hsu fled the country then. But a few years ago, Hsu re-emerged in New York as an apparel executive and a wealthy benefactor of Democratic causes and candidates. They included presidential contenders Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose campaign designated Hsu a “HillRaiser”—a title given to top donors.

Prosecutors with the California Attorney General’s office had agreed to the bail reduction because it would be used to reimburse the victims Hsu admitted swindling out of $1 million in the early 1990s.

“We did think that was enough,” Deputy Attorney General Ralph Sivilla said outside court. Sivilla also said he was troubled that Hsu didn’t turn in his passport.

Federal Election Commission records show Hsu donated $260,000 to Democratic Party groups and federal candidates since 2004. Though a top fundraiser for Clinton, he also donated to Obama’s Senate campaign in 2004 and to his political action committee. He also contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to state and municipal candidates.

Where is the outrage from the nutroots about corruption and infiltration? Are the 9/11 truthers too busy pouring over Dick Cheney’s garbage that they can’t spare a pinch of their massive intellect and sleuthing skills to investigate whether or not a massive and arguably hostile foreign power has corrupted the Democratic party?

Either way, Hsu is on the run and we might never see him again. There’s your conspiracy for you. Couple that with the Chinese Hack Attack on us earlier this year (one of many) and ignore it all at your own peril.

A shady Chinese megadonor to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has close ties to an aerospace mogul accused of placing his business interests before national security by sharing missile secrets with Beijing during the Clinton administration.

Before his forced resignation last week, Norman Yuan Yuen Hsu (pictured with Hillary) sat on the board of trustees of the liberal New School university in New York with former Loral Corp. head Bernard L. Schwartz, who was allowed to transfer restricted satellite and missile technology to a People’s Liberation Army front after contributing a record amount of cash to President Clinton’s 1996 campaign.

Last November, Schwartz and Hsu chaired a New School banquet at the Mandarin Oriental in New York which featured Sen. Clinton as keynote speaker. Clinton steered a $1 million federal grant to the college.

More recently, Schwartz and Hsu (pronounced shoo) appeared together at the New York Yacht Club for Democratic Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s 40th birthday bash…

All told, 22 Democrat donors were convicted in the Chinagate probe, which the Justice Department officially closed a few years ago.

Of course, there is no real threat from China. It’s the evil fascist government of George Dubya Bush that we have to worry about! Genocide, racism, etc… Well, that or you could read this from Right Truth (Various other sources as well) after you manage to dislodge your head from a much warmer southern region. Chinese arms are being recovered after their use in attacks against US and British forces in Afghanistan.

… And wouldn’t you just know it, according to an intelligence report back in 2002, China and our “friend” (sic) Musharrif’s ISI intelligence service actually collaborated in training the Taliban prior to 9-11. In that same year, evidence of Chinese military backing for the Taliban surfaced when U.S. Army Special Forces troops discovered 30 HN-5s, the designation for Chinese-made SA-7s surface-to-air missiles, in southeastern Afghanistan.

At a meeting held recently at the Chinese foreign ministry in Beijing, a British official expressed the UK’s growing concern about the incidents.

When asked about the latest British concerns, the Chinese foreign ministry referred back to a statement made by their spokesman Qin Gang in July who said China’s arms exports were carried out “in strict accordance with our law and our international obligations”.

For their part, the Taleban have recently begun boasting that they have now got hold of much more sophisticated weaponry although they refused to say from where.

Afghan officials have also privately confirmed to the BBC that sophisticated Chinese weapons are now in the hands of the Taleban.

What else is there to say? Probably quite a bit, but more developments need to ooze out first. As an aside, the only thing that made this story more fun to write was the plethora of pretty girls that came up when googling ‘Hsu’.
