First things first, just in case you feel like I feel.

Perhaps it’s more wishful thinking than knowing McCain isn’t foolish, but either way, I’m not a fan of the Huckster and I won’t vote with a ticket that has him on it. I’m not contributing to him a chance to springboard to a 2012 run.
That being said, McCain was at CPAC today, as if you didn’t know. I thought he did an excellent job given the hostile crowd (which for the most part was very respectable) and his need to prove that he has something to offer the conservative base.
He had a few good one-liners, as well as an air of humility that has been sorely lacking in the McCain camp until now. He really pounded the GWOT home, which is fine but I’m still not happy about his desire to close down Gitmo and completely rule out waterboarding.
Nevertheless, he showed that he can lead. That’s important because, quite frankly, we don’t have any other choice. Now throw us some red meat with a solid vice presidential choice and knock the Huckster out of the race. He is of no use to you now. The force is weak with him.
