It isn’t about disparaging Islam, it’s about defending free speech.

Two years ago, the Mohammed cartoon conflagration consumed the world and the blogosphere helped lead the way in fighting back. Longtime readers will remember that this site hammered the issue in support of Denmark. “Sammenhold,” you may recall, is the Danish word for solidarity. With the arrests this week of five jihadists accused of plotting to murder one of the Danish cartoonists, it’s time to demonstrate sammenhold again.

Based upon the reaction to the Danish cartoons, Islam portrayed as a peaceful religion is the equivalent of oil and water. The two won’t mix; they don’t go together no matter how much spin is put on the matter.

Imagine if Christians reacted in the same manner to caricatures or cartoons of Jesus. How quickly would such a reaction be put down? Then why, oh, why in the name of all that is decent, honorable, and good do we tolerate the same from Islam?
