Wolf Blitzer: “Hey, you’re not a white guy, how about voting for Obama?”
Posted by Neocon in 2008 Race, Media BiasI’m not sure if anyone caught Wolf Blitzer last night. Personally I don’t have any interest in watching more than a few minutes of that channel at a time, but I was unfortunate enough to be stuck in a room tuned to CNN, so I decided to give it another chance.
Blitzer was interviewing Bobby Jindal but by the time it was over I thought that I’d just witnessed a Barack Obama campaign ad. There wasn’t even an attempt to slide Obama into the conversation casually. It was just the same thing over and over again. Wolf would start a question about Republicans being fractured, Jindal would dismiss, and then Wolf would ask him if there was any chance that he would be endorsing someone other than a Republican. While it was obvious Jindal was just being polite in not taking sides until Huckabee decides to call it quits, Wolf just kept it up. He was either really fishing to find some Obama support or he hadn’t had his Wheaties that morning. The third possibility is that his questioning is usually that inane, but I’ll assume that since he’s on a national network it was just an off day or a very hopeful interview.
The Obama references happened at least three times; it was almost surreal. (Funny, I don’t remember hearing about Hillary at all) To Jindal’s credit, he brushed off the repeated question. I’m fairly sure that Wolf asked him about Obama after reading Jindal a quote where Rush Limbaugh suggested Jindal for Vice President. I could be making a mountain out of a molehill. I probably am, but I just hate to see an entire block of programming (and by extension, my life) wasted because of Obamamania.
Whatever CNN was going for, it didn’t come through. Unless they were trying to make my eyes cross hard enough so that I couldn’t find the remote. Seems like it would be as good a marketing strategy as any they’ve tried…
