(via Hot Air) Libertas links to some new ribbons going around the Hollywood award circuit.
Out on the red carpet, Paul Haggis (the director whose “Crash” won Best Picture in 2006) said he didn’t know what accounts for all these deeply dark, brooding, troubled films. But isn’t it obvious, he asked, flashing an orange ribbon on his lapel. Orange, why orange? “It’s Guantanamo,” his Max Azria-clad wife, Deborah, said, showing off her orange bracelet, which read: “Silence + torture = complicity.” Suddenly, we noticed — orange ribbons and bracelets everywhere.
Ah, I see. So now we’re celebrating terrorists and putting them on the same level of importance as such things as fighting breast cancer or funding AIDS research.
So terrorists are sympathetic figures? At what point exactly did the Hollywood crowd find their unity and solidarity with these murderers? I’m sure that Khalid Sheikh Mohamed was feeling very compassionate when he cut off the head of innocent journalist Daniel Pearl.
“I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew, Daniel Pearl, in the city of Karachi, Pakistan. For those who would like to confirm, there are pictures of me on the Internet holding his head.”
Ah, I get it. Sounds like the kind of guy that Hollywood liberals love to defend. He fits right in with Saddam, Castro, and all the others.
Gateway Pundit says the ACLU is behind the orange ribbons. Anyone surprised?
