Apparently Drudge was a big enough outlet to let the poorly kept cat of Prince Harry’s deployment to Afghanistan out of the bag yesterday in the British media. Harry had been serving there since December and was scheduled to come home in a few weeks. You can tell that many British mags are cursing his name for getting to give up the goods first based on the deluge of “Prince Harry with Kung-fu grip” stories that are popping up only one day later.

In response to the story, the Brits are pulling Harry out.

ARMY Chiefs have decided to pull Prince Harry out of Afghanistan, The Sun can reveal.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the 23-year-old officer’s war had come to an end in a statement late this morning.

… top brass have accepted Taliban fighters will now be doing their all to find him.

And Harry has agreed that he will leave the war torn country within the next 72-hours for a flight home to the UK.

So why did Drudge choose to release the information at all? Was it just a quick cash-in before the story became public knowledge once Harry Houdini-ed his way back into Britain? Most likely. While I’m a shameless supporter of capitalism, BUY A BUMPER STICKER, I’m pretty disappointed in Drudge here.

It’s national security. It’s global security. It’s global war with innocent men, women, and children caught in the crossfire. Beyond that, it’s a young man of unlimited luxury who is doing something that will be remembered as a boon to the War on Terror. Doing anything that might add undue danger to his mission, especially given his high-value status, is despicable.
