About this ’she is a monster’ thing

Power’s controversial comments to The Scotsman came during what the newspaper described as an “unguarded moment,” as Power was describing how the Clinton campaign was stopping at nothing to catch up to Obama in the Democratic race.
“She is a monster, too — that is off the record — she is stooping to anything,” Power told the newspaper, which published the remarks in Friday’s edition and released them earlier on the paper’s Web site.
In saying it was “off the record,” Power tried to withdraw her remark, but the newspaper explained at the bottom of its story that the interview with Power, who was promoting her book, was established as “on the record” in advance. The newspaper wrote that it was “too late” for her to retract her comment.
You can’t decide after you make a remark in an on the record interview that your statements aren’t to be included. This remark was a further escalation of sniping between the Clinton and Obama campaigns, who seem to have run out of policy differences to debate.
Jawa adds another quote from the interview that is a bit more troubling, given that Power was a de facto representative of Obama.
“We f***** up in Ohio,” she admitted. “In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio’s the only place they can win.
It hurts Obama, not only because it admits fault with his own campaign, but because the coarse language just isn’t what you want leaking from your people when you’re the “optimistic candidate for change.”

There was the predictable outrage from the Clinton camp, and not soon after the controversy started, it was largely ended by Barack Obama. The would-be President accepted Power’s resignation this afternoon.
I hope we see a lot more of this. Get dirrrty, Dems, get dirrty. Let it all out.
