Did the NY bomber send an anti-war manifesto to Dems? Sure, why not!

A number of House members were mailed a letter and photo of a Times Square recruiting station in Manhattan before it was bombed on Thursday morning, according to House insiders and law-enforcement officials.
Initial information from Capitol Hill sources suggested the letters were sent only to eight House Democrats from the New York City area, but a senior House aide said many more members than that total could have received the missives. One source desribed the letter as a “20-page rambling rant,” and the AP reported the envelopes included a “holiday greeting card” with the message “Happy New Year, We Did It” on the cards.
The AP also reported there was “a photo of a man standing in front of the recruiting station before it was bombed” in the envelopes.
The letter did not contain any specific threats against the lawmakers or the site, according to law-enforcement officials, but the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI are now investigating the matter.
Yes, it was Democrats who got the letters. And the manifesto they received was a ‘rambling anti-war’ one. Isn’t that how the usual anti-war manifesto goes? Loose logic and the sort of double-edged morality that might allow for someone who was particularly batty to chuck a bomb at your own government?
The manila envelopes contained a photo of a man standing in front of the recruiting station, according to a Democratic aide who spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter is under investigation. The photo was the kind commonly sent as a holiday greeting card.
The message on the card: “Happy New Year, We Did It.”
The envelope also contained a packet of approximately 10 sheets of paper that seemed to be a political manifesto railing against the Iraq war and a booklet. The aide didn’t know what the booklet was.
Also, according to Hot Air, the investigators don’t think this is related. How does that work? Because it violates the ‘you’re too stupid to breathe law of political activism?’ We have plenty of people with nothing upstairs but hate and rocks roaming around already; you don’t need to be smart to ride a bike or hurl a bomb.
Michelle has an excellent historical account of leftist radicals and military recruiters. I’ve come to expect her to be on top of things, but damned if she doesn’t work fast. Great read. Her continuously updated thread on the immediate subject is here.
If the letter writer was the culprit, Gina Cobb predicts he’ll have a painful lesson coming his way. I also predicted as much (and made a more sweeping prediction about the anti-war movement) in my initial NY bomb post.
Hot Air details some new possible leads. Who knows.
