(via Michelle Malkin) Time Magazine is out to equate the “fight” against global warming to World War II, not only in ludicrous words but also by stealing the most memorial image of that era.

Times Global Warming WWII WW2 World War Two Compare Image

Vets aren’t happy.

The cover of the April 21 issue of Time took the famous Iwo Jima photograph by Joe Rosenthal of the Marines raising the American flag and replaced the flag with a tree. The cover story by Bryan Walsh calls green “the new red, white and blue.”

Donald Mates, an Iwo Jima veteran, told the Business & Media Institute on April 17 that using that photograph for that cause was a “disgrace.” [...]

Mates also said making the comparison of World War II to global warming was erroneous and disrespectful.

“The second world war we knew was there,” Mates said. “There’s a big discussion. Some say there is global warming, some say there isn’t. And to stick a tree in place of a flag on the Iwo Jima picture is just sacrilegious.”

Not only does it dismiss the heavy sacrifices of human life in conflict to throw around such comparisons as Time has made, but it also cheapens the battle of Iwo Jima and the flag of the United States of America. The image just doesn’t make any sense, beyond a bunch of idiots sitting around a table going “wow, what was cool looking about WWII?” This also reflects the amount of thought they’ve put into their piece and position, in case you were wondering.

I think it’s fair to violate Godwin’s law in responding to this stupidity because not only has the global warming crowd compared those who might disagree with them to holocaust deniers but we now have a direct WWII reference thrown in our faces as well. So here we go.

Radical environmentalists are fascists bent on imposing their rigid economic/environmental control ideology on others by force, intimidation, and slander, showing a complete disregard for any dissenting opinion. So maybe they picked the wrong side to lionize in that photoshopped image. Here’s another one they might try.

Hitler Global Warming Nazi Times Cover World War II Satire Image

Hey, it makes about as much sense as Time’s cover. (Did you pick up on how stupid this issue is, yet?)

    Green is the New Red…

Time Magazine is has changed it’s cover from red to green and have replaced the flag being raised over iwo Jima to a tree (a very bad photoshop job I might add). Time says that global warming is on par with World War II, which is ridiculous. Millions….

Here’s another SHAMELESS example of Iwo Jima Imagery that I’m sure you’ll get your Panties all bunched up over:

  3. Neocon says:

Yes, because those two images are exactly the same.

Seriously, when you’re trying to discredit public outcry by providing a counter example, you might do better than to find a children’s book cover representing the youth of America working together to encourage patriotism, respect, and a historical education that this country sorely needs. Also, Mrs. Cheney’s slice of the pie on that wonderful book is going to charity. Whoops?
