Barracuda hooked?
Posted by: Neocon in 2008 Race, Foreign Policy, Media Bias, Republicans, TerrorismI caught most of the clips ABC chose to show as a preview of its interview with Sarah Palin. I’ll preface my initial reaction by saying that it looks like ABC did more dicing with that footage than a chef at Benihana, but our new VP candidate did come across as nervous and a bit rambling.
Gibson caught her off guard with a question about the definition of the Bush doctrine, which should be a given for any political junkie, but given the circumstances just tossing the name out there might not be enough to elicit a solid answer from the Governor in her first MSM grilling. I’ll cut her some slack on that one.
What I don’t get, based only off what ABC has released mind you, is why she couldn’t begin with a solid ‘yes’ or ‘no’ response and then clarify it. She did a fine job explaining her position, but it felt a bit weak when she wasn’t willing to give him an ‘absolutely’ in response to whether or not we have the right to jet into Pakistan on the heels of Al Qaeda if necessary. Hell, if McCain and Obama have both had their own affirmatives on an issue, just take the plunge and stick it to the MSM, don’t tap dance around an answer.
Was she just trying to play it cool and keep from giving Gibson more ammunition or did she really not have a full grasp of the international issues he brought up? Only time will tell, but I’ll assume for now that it’s the former. One thing is for sure: Gibson was reading those questions off like it was a sentencing instead of an interview.
“I got lost in your blizzard of words?” or something like that? Seriously, did that come out of the mouth of a serious journalist? Bias anyone? Michelle thinks so too.
Update: I can assure you that many salt-of-the-earth women are doing what I hear my mother is doing right now, googling Charlie Gibson to judge just how poorly Sarah Palin was treated. Whether she performed well or not, this interview won’t hurt her in the heartland. It will backfire 100% in that regard. Absolutely.
Oh, and Allah at Hot Air picks up the same thing I did about the Bush Doctrine. Excellent read and video link.
Update II: Oh, and did anyone catch this forum nonsense with Obama and McCain? Obama is having rose pedals thrown at his feet currently, while McCain was grilled on whether America is “better” than everywhere else. McCain handled it masterfully given what he had to work with, while Obama is back to his rockstar roots at his Alma mater– complete with screaming fans in the audience.

awww….the poor baby didn’t do well. get her a teleprompter quick….she’s lost without it.
I thought the MSM meme before was that she couldn’t read a teleprompter or deliver a speech to a large crowd? How’d that one work out for ‘em?
“www….the poor baby didn’t do well.”
Yeah, Charlie Gibson did get his handed to him, especially on his biased and falsely premised question about God on our side. Gibson’s foreign policy questions are short, curt, condescending, and what the heck is with the low voice?
Gibson’s attempt is to throw Palin off-balance and going zig and zag. This is such an obvious setup, its amazing.
Yet she held her own. And I think the fact that she is doing this …
“Today is the day I send my first-born .. to Iraq”
“My son has made a decision … serving something greater than self”
… speaks greater volumes than whether she satisfies the lib-Dem Obamedia’s need for the right nuance in foreign policy. The idea that she is less ready than that idiot Barack Obama and his idiot running mate who both were WRONG about the surge is absurd. In just a short 10 minutes, she gave us the rundown on EXACTLY what the correct duties of the President are, and managed it despite the blizzard of words from Gibson.
Right to go across the Pakistan even if the Govt does not approve? And Gibson asks it 3 times? Did this guy ever ask ANY tough questions of Obama like that? 3 times?
I’ll, uh, you know, uh, take Governor uh, Palin, you know, over Obama off script, uh any week, I mean, uh, day.
But then again, she’s not running against Obama. McCain will eviscerate Obama at the debates (unless they give BHO a teleprompter and the questions in advance, which frankly wouldn’t surprise me) and Biden will no doubt insult 52% of the voting population as he tries to belittle Palin at their debate. But hey, at least he’s less likely to plagarize anyone when speaking off the cuff.
I guess the Democrats are really stupid.Sorry, I take that back. They are stupid.Palin isn\’t running for President,McCain is. Obama(joke),is saying she isn\’t ready to step in and become President. She has more experience than he does,as far as running a government.
Biden admits openly,he doesn\’t know why Obama picked him,Hilliary would have been a better choice.
This garbage that McCain is to old and he might die in office,is totally ridiculous. His mother is a very healthy 95.
Harry Truman was a haberdasher.Roosevelt left him in the dark on many issues. He learned everything when he stepped into the White House. He turned out to be a good President.
So,all you Liberals.Watch out.You may control most of the media ,but you don\’t control \"The Silent Majority\"
