I freely admit that I’m biased so we’ll have to wait for the professional opinion-makers to weigh in before we know who won the debate, but I’ve got to say that I was fairly impressed with John McCain’s performance. Before the debate we were treated to many long mainstream media pontifications over whether college professor Barack Obama could dumb down his stirring orations so that middle America could understand his splendor, if that gives you any idea how fair this was going in.

Frankly, all that I remember hearing from Barry during this debate was ‘uh’ and ‘not true’. The man could barely get a word out without accompanying it with a machine gun stutter. At least McCain was willing to answer the questions posed to him. I’m still flummoxed over what Obama planned to delay as a result of the current financial crisis. He went on about spending more on education, but then again maybe he was just being honest. The Democrats have always loved to try spending their way out of financial crisis.

On the whole, John McCain came across as a clear winner tonight, but I can’t help but wonder how it will play with those less partisan than myself. Every lie that spilled from the Messiah’s mouth was already bitter to me– did anyone pay attention to McCain’s responses? Or is there still a little magic in that old top hat they found?

After the topsy-turvey week we’ve had where $700,000,000,000 is defined as getting off easy, I wouldn’t be surprised if Barack comes out with a lead.
