Your Post & comment took the words right out of my exact sentiments. I'm just curious if McCain is just following bad advice from his advisors or, as a Maverick, following his own instincts regardless of advise.

Remember that the Bush administration and Republicans (including McCain) warned against the root causes of this down market-- the rampant lending. So there isn't fault there. The economy was chugging along fine and responding as it has in the past to lower taxes... that's why we're teetering toward a recession now when people have been lying by claiming that we've been in one since 2001. If you'll remember, we somehow had a lot more gain to lose recently, yet the left clamored about how horrible things were in 2004. Things were pretty good then and until recently. Now we're getting back the gift of cheap housing and it's a few thousand points off the dow. Huzzah! The reason so many Americans are 'unhappy with our vision' is because they have no idea who is actually responsible for the lending that has been the cause of this. That fault lies with McCain's campaign.

Thank you very much for this moment of introspection. It is understandable that you would cast off John McCain\'s campaign as the problem, or our inability to pick a better candidate. The truth is that John McCain would be winning if the economy were not in such bad shape. We have lowered taxes, lowered regulations and kept this country free from the radicals and yet are in a crisis of unknown magnitude. George W. Bush has done nearly everything we would want in a President and yet so many people dislike what he has done. How could this be? How could so many people be unhappy with our vision? And why has the economy under George W. Bush not performed as well as we would expect? Are we just not communicating our message well enough?
