I was going to post on this when I first heard about it yesterday, but there wasn’t any video available until now. Thanks to Hot Air I didn’t have to do any further digging to find it. Karl Rove was speaking at a mortgage bankers’ meeting when a woman walked right on stage and tried to handcuff him.

The first thing that came to mind was code pink, but this woman wasn’t drenched in pink face paint, so I didn’t want to jump to conclusions– even about our favorite leftists. Nevermind that courtesy because she is code pink, proving their continued hypocrisy when it comes to respecting others right to free speech.

That code pink tried to pull a stunt doesn’t surprise me. What does annoy me is that no one seems to have the ability to keep unauthorized people from getting close enough to spit on our public figures. I’m not speaking just on the right, though it goes without saying that the left is often the perpetrator in cases like this, but for all our public officials. Does security mean nothing anymore?

There were the would-be stagecrashers at the RNC. No one seemed to worried that two people almost made it onto the stage. This woman was carrying handcuffs, but what if it had been something more dangerous? I’m not accusing code pink of planning violence, but if they’ve done a single thing in their asinine quest for attention, it has been to shine light on how poor our country’s security apparatus is. A far cry from big brother, the government can’t even keep a security perimeter. Of course, Rove is no longer in the government’s employ but still. It’s just another example from the last eight years.

Could we please either prosecute the people who do these acts or at least anticipate them? When will we wake up, after something truly horrible happens? Typical.
