Brilliant as he is, I’m glad that Charles Krauthammer isn’t a spring chicken. I have a feeling that blogging would be all but useless if he were to have a constant stream of posts as eloquent as his columns and Fox News appearances are. I wouldn’t bother blogging; I’d just host a website with a lot of flashing GIF image banners that pointed to his site… much like this post.
Mr. Krauthammer has written an excellent endorsement of the Maverick. (h/t: Hot Air) It covers all the bases in a concise and easy to swallow manner, addressing both the so-called conservatives falling off the wagon in search of phantom hope and the fact that McCain actually represents a larger percentage of our beliefs and values than the Messiah. You would think that positions on the issues alone would be enough to keep people from falling for the ‘hope and change’ mirage that has swept the country but that obviously isn’t the case.
I leave you with this excerpt:
Who do you want answering that phone at 3 a.m.? A man who’s been cramming on these issues for the past year, who’s never had to make an executive decision affecting so much as a city, let alone the world? A foreign policy novice instinctively inclined to the flabbiest, most vaporous multilateralism (e.g., the Berlin Wall came down because of “a world that stands as one“), and who refers to the most deliberate act of war since Pearl Harbor as “the tragedy of 9/11,” a term more appropriate for a bus accident?
Or do you want a man who is the most prepared, most knowledgeable, most serious foreign policy thinker in the United States Senate? A man who not only has the best instincts but has the honor and the courage to, yes, put country first, as when he carried the lonely fight for the surge that turned Iraq from catastrophic defeat into achievable strategic victory?
Which will it be America? The polls certainly don’t seem to know. If it is a sinking ideological ship, I’d much rather be counted among men like Charles Krauthammer than Joe Biden.
