When he was a state senator Illinois Dems ran the place. When he came to DC, Dems ran the place. It's one of the reasons whey you don't see a lot in his history of partnering up with Republicans to push a bill - he'd rather just force it through with all of his ideas intact or vote present to spite it. Barack is not just growing in office, he might have to 'mature' in office as well... Obama has never had to compromise with his political opponents.
