There are a lot of attempts to explain the motivations of the Obama administration. Large scale power grabs like the health care bill provide blunt examples of government overreach and Obama’s statist roots. The problem with these are that the battle is staged over such a wide period of time and over such a large battleground that it becomes hard to grab onto anything more substantive than campaign rhetoric. Only during the perpetual campaign could an entire party dismiss the fact that they haven’t read the legislation they’re voting on, much less have the Speaker of the House tout this ignorance as an achievement.

That is why the micro flare-ups that the Obama administration is so prone to suffering provide a better and more consistent opportunity to expose their motivations. Take, for example, the head of NASA’s statement that Barack Obama tasked him with outreach to the Muslim world as perhaps his number one priority. If this were any other administration, the notion would be met with silence and shock, but with Obama’s White House it kind of fits. No, not in the silly Manchurian Muslim Candidate way but as another piece in the Obama reality puzzle.

This story is a perfect example of what Obama is doing across the country. He is a child who received everything that he could have asked for (and more) on Christmas but discards it all to play with the box. He glides into office on gilded wings, surveys the prize he’s won- America- and then proceeds to throw away the core. America’s gift and promise left in the garbage bag along with Styrofoam packaging. Then out come the crayons and all of a sudden America’s shell is now sporting all sorts of new labels and the inside is warped to whatever Obama desires.

The fact that NASA’s mission is space exploration and atmospheric research is so obvious to anyone, no matter the party affiliation, and yet has been turned on its head in less than a year and a half shouldn’t be lost on anyone. I wouldn’t believe the White House push back for a minute, this story fits too well with what we already know of them. Not to mention that the NASA head is still hanging on to the bottom of the bus. Remember using CIA spy satellites to track global warming? That Obama popped out the inner workings, installed someone and told them that a self-esteem boost for another country is our number one goal should tell us something about what he’s willing to do with more crucial sectors of the government.

That it doesn’t foreshadow anything for so many on the left and in the middle reflects how Obama has been the packaging himself for others. They dumped out his statist core in the campaign, grabbed the crayons and started drawing on his box. Ta da! Now you’ve got your Malibu dream President and he just isn’t cutting it, is he?
